Dr. David Cortese completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Arizona, and he worked as an engineer with the former Santa Barbara Research Center in Goleta. He completed his pre-med coursework at UCSB and earned his Medical Degree from UC Irvine's College of Medicine. His Orthopaedic Surgery residency was completed in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico. He completed an additional year of fellowship training in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy and Reconstructive Orthopaedic Surgery at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Cortese is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a 12-year Army veteran with past deployments to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Dr. Cortese's current practice at Lompoc Health - Orthopedic Center is focused on general orthopedics, arthroscopy, and sports medicine. He conducts operative and non-operative treatment of hip, shoulder and knee injuries, including rotator cuff pathology and shoulder instability; knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair and cartilage restoration; hip, knee and shoulder replacement and fracture care.
